The Struggle for Healthy Habits in Preschoolers - My Mama Adventure

Honestly, I consider us pretty lucky in the eating department with our preschooler. Considering his past with a feeding tube, oral aversion, refusal to drink – anything! The fact that we have a 4 year old that is so willing to try new foods and frequently chooses fruits and veggies over bags of chips or sweets, I’m always amazed at how far he’s come.

How Can I Help You Feel Loved?

How Can I Help You Feel Loved

When inspiration strikes, you write. And what better inspiration than love? Especially love for your child. We love our children to our very cores, it’s so deep that it’s never ending. My dad has taught my son that he doesn’t just love M to the moon and back, but he loves him to the Oort cloud and back. That’s our new thing “I love you to the Oort cloud and back.” But how do I know that my children really feel loved? What do I do on a daily basis outside of saying the actual words? I was challenged to ask my son one simple question: How can I help you feel loved? So, I asked.

If you’ve been following my Instagram account, then you may have noticed that we’re trying to get healthier in the House of K home. We’ve really been trying to do more of the whole “clean eating” thing. I’ve found some really yummy treats and I’ve discovered that clean eating doesn’t mean feeling deprived. I will admit though, the holidays does make it hard. I’m a sucker for pumpkin pie and holiday cookies. But even pumpkin pie and cookies can be made using a “clean” recipe, and they’d probably taste even better!

Oh! Hai There!

Oh! Hai There!

So, it’s been about a month since I’ve written. Things have been really busy with the kids and I’ve really been thinking a lot about where I want to take this blog. I’ve been trying to monetize and make some income off this little space of mine through Google ads, affiliate links, some sponsored posts, reviews, and giveaways. And it has been so much fun! I love offering giveaways and have loved the opportunities to try products and share them with you that I may not have otherwise been able to try.

Losing the New Mom Jiggle - My Mama Adventure

Not gonna lie, I kind of want to sit on the moms who seem to just melt away the baby weight after birth. I mean, I know it has a lot to do with genetics, but seriously? It’s just not fair. Most of us struggle to lose the jiggle and for me, it’s more than just a struggle to lose the weight, its a struggle to find time to lose the weight.

I have a 3 year old and a 3 month old. I’m building my Jamberry Nails business, I’m doing the blogging thing, and I’m trying to work my way into a small family photography business. I’m also trying to find an out of the home job. I’m busy. Between laundry, dishes, and WAHM duties (and doody!), I’m pretty much going from sun up to long past sun down. Somewhere in there I’m supposed to find time to shed the pounds and firm up the post c-section tummy? Yea, okay!

Tips for Breastfeeding Oversupply and Discomfort {+ an Undercover Mama Review}

Tips for Breastfeeding Oversupply & Discomfort

Oversupply with breastfeeding, the struggle is real my friends! I feel the breastfeeding conversation usually centers around how to boost supply or fearing that you’re not making enough, but some of us make more than enough and while it’s great, it’s also incredibly painful! I knew that I’d have an oversupply issue with Baby H, I had the same issue with M when he was a baby. I mean, what newborn needs 8oz of breastmilk every 2 hours? And that was when I didn’t even empty my breasts while pumping. I know it’s pretty normal to have a large supply when milk comes in, but usually mama will adjust to her baby within the first couple weeks. I was bonding with a pump and not nursing when it came to M so 3 weeks in, I was still pumping 8-10oz every 2 hours.

A Rainbow Story of Hope

A Rainbow Story of Hope - My Mama Adventure

As most of you probably already know, if you follow me on Facebook or Instagram, you’ve probably already seen the announcement (and if you don’t follow me on either of those, you definitely should!).

That’s right folks! My precious rainbow baby that we’ve been hoping and praying for finally made her glorious arrival. It didn’t go as planned, but she’s healthy, she’s here, she’s perfect, and that’s all that matters.

I Believe in Gentle Parenting But…

I Believe in Gentle Parenting But... - My Mama Adventure

Yes, I’m a gentle parent and believe in gentle parenting techniques. We don’t use corporal punishment (spanking), we use calm voices, we state the positive rather than telling our son what not to do, we believe in cuddles and expressing feelings, and we don’t do time-out for tantrums, we babywear. I believe in breastfeeding (if it’s what works for you), room sharing/co-sleeping (if it works for you), responding to my child’s cries.

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea in Pregnancy – Guest Post

Red Raspberry Leaf Tea in Pregnancy - Guest Post - My Mama Adventure

I’m currently waiting on baby number five. Yes, five! Through the past five pregnancies, I’ve learned a lot about preparing for labor. One of those things is red raspberry leaf tea. You wouldn’t think a tea could make that much of a difference when it comes to having baby but it does! It really does!

Red raspberry leaf tea is an herbal tea made from the leaves of a raspberry plant. This is not the same as red raspberry tea… that stuff is raspberry flavored and while it tastes yummy; it won’t do anything for labor! Red raspberry LEAF tea tastes closer to a black tea and is high in calcium, iron, magnesium, vitamin A, and much more. It’s been used for many different issues but it’s most known for its use by pregnant women.

To My Baby Burrito - My Mama Adventure

To my Baby Burrito,

I had to take you to the doctor’s office today. You had a pretty bad diaper rash.  Quite the mundane ailment, I must admit.  But nothing about our visit felt mundane today…

You had on my *new* favorite shirt of yours.  It is bright orange with a tiny dinosaur in the bottom corner and “ROAR!” written really big right in the center of your chest.  I think it is my favorite shirt because it reminds me of you.  My baby burrito.  Such a sweet, little man with such a big, gigantic, energetic spirit – just like that tiny, little dinosaur on your shirt.   Your pants were a little bit too long for your short little legs so every once in awhile, you would slide on your right pant leg.  (And yes, my heart would skip a tiny beat every time it happened.)  You are kind-of in between sizes at the moment so finding the right pant length is difficult.  Your blonde hair was ‘styled’ so perfectly in your messy, half-curled, baby-mullet.  I fought every urge to follow right behind you, lick my hand, and try to tame the wild hair-beast.
